  Income Tax Preparation

Income Tax Preparation can be very stressful, especially with all the changes and new tax credits available this year. It just gets more and more complicated every year doesn't it? We can help you with that. We want to be your tax preparer for many years to come. Below are some answers to some questions you may have. If the answer isn't here, please feel free to call us at 812-656-8087. We are more than happy to speak to you. Or if you prefer you may email your questions to us at: info@personalpaymentsplus.com.

Do I need an appointment?
Since we are in a personal residence and we are in and out of the office so much an appointment is necessary if you want to see a preparer. We offer appointments at your convenience 7 days a week from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. If you are unable to come to our office, we can arrange to pick up your information or deliver your tax return within the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area, northern Kentucky and Dearborn County in Indiana. We also accept drop-off returns at any time.

What is a drop-off return?
We like to take the time to visit with our clients when they bring in their tax information; especially, if you are a new client. We want to meet you and get to know you so that we can ask the appropriate questions that can lead to a more accurate return. However, sometimes this is not practical and a client just leaves (drops off) their tax information. At the end of the driveway, you will see a door next to the garage that has a mail slot in it for your convenience. Sometimes it is more practical to mail or electronically send your tax information. That is not a problem. No matter how your tax documents get to us, we will prepare the return and contact you if we have any questions and when the return is done.

What do I need to bring in?
We need all W-2's, 1099's, and income (including business and rental) you received. If you have a business, rentals, itemize deductions (long form) we will need these expenses. Also, personal information such as SSN's and dates of birth for everyone on the return. If you are in doubt, bring it in. But if you forget something you can always email or fax it to us.

Do I need to bring in a copy of last year's return?
If you are a new client, it is helpful for us to see last year's return. By looking at your prior year's return we can see if there is something on it that we haven't discussed for this year. And maybe even find that an error was previously made.

How much does it cost to prepare a return?
Our prices, like most other places, depend on what forms are needed and how complicated the return is. Accurate pricing is hard to do until the return is completed. After we have prepared the return, if you are not comfortable with the price, any documents you brought in will be returned to you. No obligations.

Please note: This year we are offering new clients a 20% discount off the price they paid last year with another firm for the same forms prepared. If you paid $200 to have your taxes prepared last year, that's a $40 savings! Just bring in your receipt from last year with your 2008 tax return.

How can I pay for the return?
Payment is not required at the time of preparation, but we will not release the return for mail or electronic filing until the preparation charges have been paid. We accept cash, personal check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover.
